Obituary of Harvey Cheatham

Harvey Cheatham, Sr., 70, of New Britain, died Friday (July 31, 2015) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in Berlin, he lived in Berlin and Plainville but spent most of his life in New Britain. After graduating from Berlin High School he served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at New Britain Machine and Raymond Engineering for many years. He was a member of the Pride of Connecticut Lodge of Elks in New Britain. An avid fisherman and sports enthusiast, Harvey spent many hours fishing with his friends and family. The remainder of his spare time was spent watching his children play sports, watching sports with them, or playing sports with them. Harvey is survived by his wife, Marie (Gebala) Cheatham, his children, Desiree Yopp, Joseph Cheatham (Nydia), Tanya Prince (Ervin), Elexis Cheatham(Norm), and Harvey Cheatham, Jr.(Itza); His grandchildren: Kenisha, Gerrod, EJ, Arianna, Maya, Joey and Jackson; a sister Barbara and her husband Johnnie Baker; a special nephew Joseph Seymour and a host of other beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Catherine, Irene, James, David, Charlie and Joey. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
