Obituary of Ettero W. Aiudi
Please share a memory of Ettero to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ettero W. Aiudi Jr., of New Britain and Old Saybrook, passed away Monday, May 31st, with his devoted children and brother by his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Teresa B. Aiudi. He was born in New Britain on May 25, 1925 to Ettero and Theodora Aiudi. He was a man of few words who meant everything he said and always knew his mind. The night he met Teresa, he introduced her to his friends as the woman he was going to marry, giving her a cigar band ring that she always cherished.
He proudly served his country in Europe during World War II. Ettero was a life long member of the Berlin Lions Club, and of the VFW. A man who truly enjoyed the simple things in life, two of his greatest passions were cooking and gardening. He made the best apple pie, and enjoyed nothing more than teaching and sharing old family recipes with Olivia and Charlotte. The three of them loved to make their favorite pastatae. Ettero had a green thumb and always grew the biggest and sweetest tomatoes. Ettero enjoyed fishing at his Old Saybrook home, but more importantly, loved to share a glass of vino or two with his neighbors Bill, Julien, Don and the late Tom Griffin.
Ettero was the president and co-owner of E. Aiudi & Sons of Berlin, CT. He truly loved his work and never believed in retirement. In his kitchen he has a hand written sign that said, "We do not stop working because we are old, we grow old because we stop working." In all his 85 years, Ettero was never old. He loved everyday that he was able to work, and enjoyed the relationships he had with the employees of Connecticut Natural Gas, both past and present.
Ettero is survived by his son, Jeffrey Aiudi of New Britain, and his daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Thomas Emmanuel of Rocky Hill; his two beloved granddaughters, Olivia and Charlotte Emmanuel; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Doris Aiudi; and his nephews and nieces: Ronnie Guyette; Denise Raducka; Doreen Marsh; Billy, Alan, and Cheryl Aiudi. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Errede, Lena Errede, and his nephew Dennis Guyette.
