Obituary of Donald J. Moore

Donald J. Moore , 84, of Niantic, formerly of New Britain, died Thursday (Feb. 25, 2010) at home. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Martin and Florence (Hartnett) Moore, he moved to Niantic 35 years ago. He was predeceased by his wife Genevieve "Jen" (Ferrara) Moore with whom he built his home in Niantic in 1953. He retired after twenty seven years with the New Britain Fire Department. He was well known as an antique car enthusiast and collector and was a former member of the Westbrook Elks lodge. Don is survived by his daughter Gina and her husband Douglas McQuilken of Niantic, his son Martin Moore of Leverett, MA, his sister Florence Swanson of Old Lyme; four grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Scott Heisler, Sean McQuilken, Sarah Moore and Elyza Moore and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
