Victor Carriere, 90, formerly of New Britain and Newington died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the St. Mary Home in West Hartford. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Yourwith) Carriere. Born in Revere, Massachusetts, February 5, 1919, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lauretta (Liberto) Carriere. Mr. Carriere was the owner and operator of Vic's Service Station, also known as Twin City Exxon, on Newington Avenue for nearly 35 years before his retirement in 1982. He was also proud to have served his country as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corp during WW II. Mr. Carriere is survived by his daughter, Carol Washington and her husband Kevin of Granville, MA, a son, Dennis Carriere and his wife Sandra Fern of Marlborough, CT and a grandson, Robert Myjak of Oxnard, CA; his sister, Mary Broderick of North Andover, MA and brother, Joseph Carriere, Jr. and his wife Lillian G. of Revere, MA and brother-in-law William Yourwith and his wife Mary of Derby, CT. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy M. (Carriere) DeMatteis and brothers, John, Peter, Andrew and Alphonse Carriere. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vic's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
