Francesco "Rocky" Rocco, 73, of New Britain died Thursday night January 8, 2009 at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General. He was the husband of Margaret (Roche) Rocco. Born in Carbondale, PA, September 9, 1935, he was a son of the late Paul and Theresa (Esposito) Rock. A U.S. Air Force Veteran, Mr. Rocco was employed by Stanley Works for 44 years before his retirement. An avid bowler and Red Sox Fan, Rocky was proud to be a member of the Sherman Ten Pin Bowling League where he earned a 300 Ring. He was also an accomplished cartoonist and artist.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Rocco of Ocala, FL, Paula McCarthy and her husband Patrick of New Britain and Tracy Rocco of Ocala, FL; a granddaughter, Ashley Marie McCarthy; sisters, Pam Salerni of New Britain and Carol Zampini of Middletown, a brother, Joseph Turgeon of Middletown, a step-brother, Norman Turgeon of New Britain and four nephews, Paul Salerni of Bethlehem, PA, Frank Salerni of Cromwell, Philip Salerni of Israel and Ohio and Michael Zampini of Middletown.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Should you desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN. 38105. The Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
