OBITUARIES Nicholas P. Carlone, Jr. 78, of New Britain, died Saturday January 3, 2009 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in New Britain, he was a life long resident and retired from The Stanley Works after 46 years of service. He was the son of the late Nicholas P. Carlone, Sr. and Julia (Bianco) Carlone. He was the widower of Rita (Mirante) Carlone, who died in 1964. He served as a Marine in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, where he was severely wounded. While in Korea, he earned a Purple Heart Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was an avid Yankee fan, often having lively discussions with the family Red Sox fans. Mr. Carlone is survived by two sons and five grandchildren: Mark N. Carlone and his wife Dolores (Campagna) Carlone of Kensington, and their three children Mark Carlone Jr., Christopher Carlone and Nicole Carlone; Alan W. Carlone and his wife Randi (Jasmine) Carlone of Wallingford, and their two children Alan Carlone Jr. and Emily Carlone; one brother, Roger W. Carlone and his wife Barbara (Milardo) Carlone of New Britain; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his fiancé' Antonietta Martinella. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ann's Church North St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
