Obituary of Dorothy E. Connolly

Dorothy Elizabeth Connolly, age 97, of Acworth, Georgia, formerly of New Britain and Bristol, Connecticut, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was born to John Charles Connolly and Mary Josephine Dillon Connolly on August 20, 1918 in New Britain, Connecticut. She attended Saint Mary's School and graduated from New Britain High School. Dorothy possessed a loving and kind soul and was an incredible woman with a serving heart. She always put the needs of others before her own. She held various positions in a long career with Stanley Works and was a devoted member of Saint Mary's Church for many years. She loved to travel and spend time with her many friends in the New Britain area and of course her family. Dorothy made an early trans-atlantic voyage in 1952 and continued to travel over the years in Europe and the United States. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Connolly; sister, Kathryn Connolly Andrus; and her brother in law, Frank Andrus. Survivors include her nephews, James Andrus and his wife, Joyce, of Eureka, Missouri; David Andrus and his wife, D.J., of Acworth, Georgia, grandnephew, Sam Andrus of Acworth, Georgia; and grandnieces, Elizabeth Andrus and Jennifer Andrus both of Acworth, Georgia. She will remain in the hearts of her family forever and will always be remembered as "Auntie". Funeral services will be held on Saturday (June 4, 2016) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Friday, June 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
