John J. (Butch) Farone, Jr., aka "Seymour the Clown", died Friday November 21 at the age of 67 from a brief but courageous battle with liver and colon cancer. Butch was predeceased by his wife, lover, worst critic and best friend, Sandralee (Domizio) Farone on October 24, 2008. He was by her side caring for her throughout the eight years of her illness. He was the son of the late John J. Farone, Sr. and Mary (Bakaj) Farone of Berlin and the son-in-law of the late Alderman and Democratic Town Chairman Thomas J. Domizio of New Britain. A brother, Stanley Bakaj also predeceased him. He is survived by two daughters, Angela Muir and her husband Andrew of Newington and Andrea Farone and her fiancee, Barry Scruggs of Hayward, WI; two grandsons whom he loved and cherished, Alexander and Austin Muir, both of Newington. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Farone of Berlin and Mary Morgan of Branford, three brothers all of Berlin, Joseph, Anthony and Billy and wife Margaret as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Butch grew up in Berlin and attended local schools. He was a retired member of the Local 478 Operating Engineers Union working for numerous companies throughout his lengthy career. Butch was a member of the Sons of Italy, General Ameglio Society, Marchegian Society and New England Auto Racing (NEAR). "Seymour the Clown" was an active participant in Auto racing and was well known throughout the Eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida, though "Seymour the Clown" originated at Stafford Motor Speedway. As Seymour, he brought many smiles and laughs to children and adults every weekend with his antics. His lollipops and smiles brought much joy to all around him. He leaves behind many friends who have been there through so much of his recent life helping him through difficult times he faced with the care of his loving wife, Sandy. The girls would like to especially express their heartfelt thanks to Jan Peichert and Roger Svensk, Wally and Susan Anderson, Barry and Patty Britton, Harry and Al Patel for their guidance, caring and friendship to Dad. Also a special thanks to Val Laseuir, Geoff Bodine, Bugsy Stevens, Everett Campenelli, Bruno Baroni and countless others for their unconditional friendship. Butch lived his life with selflessness, courage and love. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
