Obituary of Angelo B. Mancini

Angelo Mancini, 86, from New Britain, passed away on January 24, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Mary Lou (Ptacosky) Mancini for fifty-nine years.
Angelo was the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Mercugliano) Mancini. He was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Anthony, his sister Sophie, his nephew Michael, his father and mother in-law Edward and Gwen Ptacosky and his son-in-law Stephen Grega.
In addition to Mary Lou, he is survived by his daughters, Carin Mancini of Cromwell, Beth Mancini Goldsnider and her husband Craig of Coventry and Janice Grega-Mals and her husband Ron of Kensington. Angelo also leaves his two grandsons, who brought much joy to his life, Stephen Grega and Andrew Mals, both from Kensington. Angelo also leaves his sister-in-laws Jeanne Mancini of New Britain and Sheila Kahn and her husband Loren of Watertown. He leaves several nieces and nephews. Additionally, he leaves several special cousins in Maine.
Angelo had a wonderful work ethic which he proudly passed on to his girls. He retired from First National Stores after 49-years and soon turned his interest to golf. Angelo always looked forward to his Friday outings with the Belvedere Golf Group. On September 22, 1999, he achieved a hole-in-one at Stanley Golf Course. He was a member of St Maurice Church and a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed the UCONN women's basketball team for many years. Angelo and Mary Lou would travel with their close friends, Dick and Gerry Tucker, to several Women's Final Four tournaments over the years and also shared many special occasions with the Tucker Family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (Jan. 28, 2016) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Burial with military honors, will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
