Obituary of Mary Grace Santy
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Grace (Casale) Santy, beloved wife of the late Francis J. Santy, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2016, exactly two weeks after her husband. Born on January 14, 1917, Mary was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Anna Maria Casale.
Mary, Carmel, Nonni, MeMe, yes she answered to all, lived a wonderful life. Married to Francis for 75 years, she is survived by her son Frank G. Santy and his wife Pat, of Suffield, CT, her daughter Deb Santy of Coventry, CT, her four loving grandchildren, Robert Santy and his wife Lauri, Pamela Santy, Lynn Loucks and her husband Jon, and Jill Chase and her husband Kyle. She also leaves behind her beautiful great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew and David Santy and twins Colbie and Jase Loucks.
Mary was predeceased by seven siblings, her brothers, Frank, George, Pat and Louis Casale, and her sisters Edith Gavitt, Emily Bernardo and Annette Bagnano.
Mary and Francis were inseparable with only World War II and the very end of their lives, keeping them from each other. Like Uncle Francis, family from all over this country came to spend time with Aunt Carmel.
Mary graduated from Lewis High School in Southington, CT, at the age of sixteen, having skipped two grades. She worked for a Probate Judge in Southington and right up until the date of her passing, retained all of her shorthand skills. She concluded her working career with a decade at Connecticut General…and yes…with her husband.
Mary enjoyed her family, her Church and was an avid reader. She was the family historian, maintaining the records for all. She enjoyed daily Mass for some 30 years followed by miles of walking into her nineties…and yes…with her husband. She was a beautiful woman who found great solace in her God and great health and happiness in her life.
