Obituary of Alice Beane

Alice (Barry) Dickman Beane, 81, of Meriden, passed away peacefully Friday (Feb.27,2015) in the loving arms of her daughters. Alice was one of 15 children of Arthur and Rose (Jump) Barry. Alice was born March 8, 1933, in Grande Gorge, NY, and spent the majority of her youth on the family's farm in upstate New York, moving to New Britain at the age of 7 and attended local schools and then resided in Meriden the last 25 years. Alice worked at General Electric in Plainville, CT for 30 years. Upon retiring, Alice devoted her love and time to care for her grandchildren. Alice was a strong willed, loving inspiration to all of her friends and family. She had the Irish 'spunk". She enjoyed tag sales with her daughters and grandchildren, and was devoted to her pets. Her family was her world, and she theirs; she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Alice is survived by her two daughters Laura (Dickman) Begley and her husband Howard Begley of Kensington; Jayne (Beane) Bleau and her husband Kevin Bleau of Southington; her grandchildren Meghan Rose Begley, Ryan Donald Bleau and Adam James Bleau, who were the light of her life and pride enjoy. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine "Cassie" Mazurick of Plainville, Julia (Judy) Mihalak and her husband Joseph of Southington, and Edna Mailhot of Newington; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends; especially her best friend Claire Nitkowski of Southington. Alice was predeceased by her first husband, Carl Dickman and her husband and soulmate Donald Richard Beane; her siblings, Chauncy,John, George, Fred, Robert, Norman, Ralph, Barry, Flora and Ola DiMauro and Virginia Dunn.
Alice was a force of nature and will be greatly missed. She was a one of a kind soul, who was so loving and giving. She was the arms that held us close.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to a special woman, Adele Bak, who was their moms 24 hour caregiver, she has been a blessing to the family for two years. Also, their difficult and emotional journey was made easier by the wonderful caregivers at Masonicare Home Health & Hospice. To them a heart felt thank you.
