Leona D. (Deutsch) Ibets, 92, formely of New Britain, passed away at home Wednesday (Feb.11, 2015), with her family at her side. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Alois L. and Wilhelmina (Scheucher) Deutsch , she moved to Ellington in 1996 and then to Tolland in 2013. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Ibets, Sr.
Leona had been an inspector at the Fafnir Bearing Co. before starting her family. She was a well known New York Mets fan, and enjoyed watching as many of their games as possible.
Leona is survived by her son Joseph and his wife LouAnn Ibets of Tolland; her brother Edward Deutsch of Sun City, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Marc Ibets, Dec. 24, 1994.
Funeral services will be held Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut 8 Keynote Dr. Vernon, CT 06066.
