OBITUARIES
Frederick J. McBriarty, 83, formerly of New Britain and Berlin, died Friday at an area convalescent home. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Frederick and Rose (McEnroe) McBriarty, he lived many years in Berlin. He was employed as a mechanic, at Balf Quarry for several years, and later employed at the Mohawk Dairy. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, was a member of the VFW, the Teamsters Union and a parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Kensington.
Fred is survived by two daughters Karen and her husband Patrick Apruzzese of Plantsville, Doreen and her husband David Barnofski of Southington; two sons Frederick McBriarty, Jr. of Berlin, William and his wife Anna McBriarty of Wallingford; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Thomas McBriarty and Edward McBriarty and a dear friend Beverly Tonkowicz. He was predeceased by his wife Rita (Margolot) McBriarty and twin brother Edward McBriarty.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:30 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
