Obituary of John Rooney

OBITUARIES John D. "Jack" Rooney 89, of New Britain, died Sunday at an area convalescent home. Born in Buffalo, New York, he lived in New Britain for forty three years and worked at the Travelers Insurance Co. for over forty years. He was a very active communicant of St. Maurice Church where he served as a collector. Jack is survived by his wife Alice (Richards) Rooney, and their five children Stephen J. Rooney and his wife Katy of Staten Island, NY, John Rooney, Jr. and his wife Jasmine of West Hartford, Judith Pellettieri and her husband George of Warner, NH, Margaret Rubino and her husband Thomas of Collinsville, and Susan Rooney of East Haddam; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; a sister Patricia Hagerty of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Rita Block. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30 A.M. form the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday (today) 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
