Obituary of Herbert J. Sauter

Herbert James Sauter, 81, of Ocala, FL, died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2007) at the Legacy Hospice House in Ocala, Florida. Born in New Britain, he graduated from New Britain High School and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of the New York School of Embalming and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over forty years. He retired in 1986 from the Farrell Funeral Home in New Britain. While living in New Britain, Herb served as a Commissioner of the Fire Board and the Park Board and was Life Member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 957 in New Britain. He also served in several offices of the New Britain Fire Buffs. Herb is survived by his son Herbert James Sauter of Suffield, CT, two daughters Kathleen Sweeney of Plymouth, Minn, Deborah Turner of Ocala, FL, five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his devoted wife June (Metcalfe) Sauter, his daughter Cynthia Sauter and his brother Ronald B. Sauter. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday Aug. 31, 2007 at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in the National Cemetery Ocala Florida.
