OBITUARIES
Vera Elizabeth McCabe, 77, of Carolina Shores, NC, died Tuesday June 12, 2007, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after battling a lingering illness. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late William Francis Dillon and Ana Christina Anderson Dillon, she graduated from Bay Path College in Massachusetts. She managed the Waterbury Day Nursery for many years and continued as a director after she took employment with the Sate of Connecticut. She was very active in Social Services and spent many years with the Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation before moving to North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her sister, Rita Holland; and her twin brother William Henry Dillon.
Vera is survived by her husband Frederick "Fritz" McCabe, her niece Deborah Holland-Turnbull of New York City, her nephew Scott Holland of Miami Beach, FL, and nephews John H., Brian and Aaron Dillon all of Connecticut.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday July 11, 2007 at 11:30 A.M. at
St. Francis of Assisi Church Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 4390, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. The
Farrell Funeral Home Franklin Sq. New Britain is in charge of local arrangements.
