Obituary of Carl R. Nelson

NELSON: Carl R. Nelson, 99, of West Hartford, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Illinois, he had lived in West Hartford for many years and was husband of the late Eleanor (Bihl) Nelson. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in West Hartford. Prior to his retirement in 1972, he was Regional Manager at the Royal Globe Insurance Co, and a lifetime member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose International. He had belonged to the Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club, the Old Guard, and the Farmington Country Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by his two daughters Charlotte (Sorensen) Lueckel and her husband Bill, Diane Teubner and her husband Ed, his four grandchildren, Stacey Sorensen Ristinmaa and her husband Matti, Curtis Sorensen and his wife Esperanza, Abigail Teubner and Gillian Teubner; four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Monica, Alex and Anton; the Lowensteins, the Swifts, and his dear friends Laurie and Bill Brousseau, Mark Galeota, and caregiver Charity Bonsu. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 12 South Main Street, West Hartford, 06107. Arrangements are being handled by Paul B. Andrews through the Farrell Funeral Home.
