William C. Dunn, 68 of New Britain, was a caring man, a wonderful father, and a devoted husband. He died peacefully on February 21, 2007 after a long illness. Born on April 10, 1938 in New Britain, Bill was the youngest son of the late Charles Tobin Dunn and Ethel May (LaFurney) Dunn. He lived all of his life in the New Britain and Kensington area. In his youth he served as an alter boy at St. Paul�s Church in Kensington. A graduate of Berlin High School, he lettered in baseball and was on the swim team. As a young man he had a passion for cars--raced as an amateur and performed auto body repair for several years. He entered the military in 1960, served as a radio operator and Communication Team Chief in Germany. Bill returned to New Britain after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1964. Soon thereafter he began a career in the finance industry that later included working as a loan officer for the CT Credit Union League, First CT Credit Union and Stamford Teachers Federal Credit Union. Bill was a faithful member of St. Joseph�s Church and the Oratory of Jesus. Bill married the love of his life, Joyce (Stevens) Dunn on October 8th 1966 at St. Andrews Church in New Britain. For more than 40 years they loved and cared for each other and their family. Bill was a gentle and patient father to three daughters passing on to them his love for life, laughter, and music. Besides his wife, Joyce, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda Warner of Berlin, Kelly Dunn of Atlanta GA, Kimberly Sprague and her husband Fred of Southington, four grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Jacob and Valerie, his great-grandson, Hunter, his sister Emma Leisner and her husband Frank of Tucson, AZ., many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bill was a very special person in the lives of many, but especially to his sister-in-law Mary Aresimowicz of Berlin, and his brother-in-law Herbert Stevens of Newington, and his dear friend David Godfrey of San Leandro, CA. His brothers Brud and John predeceased him. The Dunn family extends a special thank-you to Barbara Maheu of Vitas Hospice. Funeral services will be held, Monday, February 26, 2007 - 9:00AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, CT a Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM. at St. Joseph�s Church in New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary�s Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday February 25, from 2 to 4 PM at The Farrell Funeral Home.
