OBITUARIES
Vincent William (Bill) Swent, died at his home in Berlin, August 4, 2006, after a long illness. Bill was born in New Britain on September 1, 1932 to Vincent W. Swent, Sr. and Ruth Taggert Swent. He lived there until his marriage to Patricia Kelly Swent in 1962. He met Pat when they worked together at SNET. Pat and Bill lived in Southington until 1980 when they moved to Berlin.
Bill was a Furniture Finisher and retired from the Marlborough Country Barn in 1995. Next to his family, he loved to fish the Connecticut River and the waters around central Connecticut in his little bass boat. He never brought a fish home although he caught many. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the Newport News, a destroyer escort.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he leaves two children Glenn William Swent and Jill Swent Eshoo and her husband, Joseph, all of Berlin; a brother in law Frank J. Kelly and his wife Alice of Newington; a sister in law Muriel Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ann Swent O�Donnell who died in May 2006.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church, Cottage St. East Berlin. Burial will follow in Wilcox, East Berlin. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the nurses at the Berlin VNA and those at Hospice of Central Connecticut for their kindness and support during Bill�s illness. Contributions may be made to either or to a charity of the donor�s choice.
