OBITUARIES Nino J. Cardone, 80, of New Britain, died Tuesday at a an area convalescent home. Born in Hartford, he spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY, and most of his life in New Britain. He was a loving husband for fifty seven years, to his late wife Aldria (Balducci) Cardone. He was employed for twenty five years by the State of Connecticut at Central Connecticut State University as a carpenter, was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran where he served on the USS Wasp as a gunner, which won eight battle stars in the Pacific Theatre. A member of St. Ann�s Church, he also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Daly Council No. 12. He was also well known as an avid New York Yankees, New England Patriots, and UCONN fan. A loving father and grandfather, Nino believed his family was his whole life and is survived by two daughters Linda and her husband Jeff Gambino of Newington, Lisa and her husband Scott Skates of Berlin, a son Thomas and his wife Pam Cardone of Burlington; six grandchildren Katie Cardone, Tiana Cardone, Monica Gambino, Dayna Gambino, Danielle Skates and Justin Skates; a sister in law and brother in law Leo and Laia Francini of New Britain, a brother in law and sister in law Joseph and Emily Balducci of Newington; a sister in law Angie Balducci and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother in law Leno Balducci. Funeral services will be Friday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ann�s Church North St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 538 Preston Ave. Meriden CT 06450 or to the Hospice-VNA of Central CT 205 West Main St. New Britain, CT 06052. The Cardone family would like to send a special thank you to Station 5 at Brittany Farms Health Care for their hard work, support and comfort given to their father. They would also like to thank the VNA, especially Gene, Sam and Rob, for all their help.
