OBITUARIES Bryan Lambert Ahern died Saturday Dec.24, 2005, at the age of 31 with his family at his side after a courageous and inspiring battle with Leukemia. A lifelong Newington resident, he was the son of Donald E. and Marcia (Sharasheff) Ahern. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in New Britain in 1993, obtained an Associate Degree from Tunxis Community College, attended John Jay University in New York City and went on to receive a BA Degree from Eastern Connecticut State College. After Bryan�s initial diagnosis of Leukemia, he decided to pursue a career in Nursing at Goodwin College in East Hartford and was one semester away from graduating when his Leukemia returned. He then received a second bone marrow transplant from his older brother Doni and battled until the very end. Bryan was a member of the NRA for many years. In addition to his parents, Bryan is survived by his brother Donald P. Ahern of Newington, his sister and brother in law Tara A. and Marcelo Caetano of Newington, his maternal grandmother Phyllis Sharasheff of Farmington, his maternal grandfather Bernard Allen of Las Vegas, NV, his girlfriend and best friend Farrah Benson of Trumbull; his aunts and uncles Bernard and Patricia Sharasheff of Farmington, Shari Sharasheff of Farmington, Darci Haun of Holland, PA, Richard and MaryAnn Ahern of New Britain, DeDra Ahern of Kensington, many great aunts and great uncles; many dear cousins and very dear friends, including his closest friends Richard Kuckel, Michael Laskowski and Ryan Kelly and his Godchild Gracie Laskowski. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Lambert and Jane Ahern, his paternal great grand mother Lillian Keough, maternal grandfathers Philip Sharasheff and Walter Jaeger and his uncle James F. Ahern. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church Willard Ave. Newington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Ahern Family would like to thank the Staff of the 7th floor of the Shapiro Building and the staff of the Bone Marrow Transplant floor of the Feldberg Building. It was their friendship and dedication that Bryan was most impressed with. We also thank Dr. Kenneth Miller for the last six years that we were able to be with Bryan.
