Obituary of John Petruniw

John Petruniw, 88, of New Britain, died Monday (June 2, 2014) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in the Ukraine, the son of the late Gregory and Nastia Petruniw, he came to New Britain in 1949. He was employed for many years by the State of Connecticut in the Correctional System and was a member of the St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Mr. Petruniw is survived by his wife Patricia (Markiw) Petruniw; a daughter Anne and her husband Dale Bailly of New Britain; two sons Michael Petruniw and John Petruniw, Jr, both of New Britain; five grandchildren John and his wife Sarah Bailly, Michelle and her husband Ben O'Neill, Kathryn Bailly, Susan and her husband Luis Castrillo and Elizabeth and her husband Matthew Simmons; seven great grandchildren Juliana Bailly-Simao, Rebekah Bailly, Gabrielle O'Neill,Isabella Castrillo Rachael Bailly, Caroline O'Neill and Jacob Bailly. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church 54 Winter St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery Osgood Ave. New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, and from 9:00 AM Saturday at the church. A Panakhyda Service will be Friday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bundles For Ukraine in care of the church.
