Obituary of John Marsh

John E. Marsh, "Mush" 82, loving and devoted husband of Joan (Plocharczyk) Marsh, of Berlin, died Wednesday (April 16, 2014) at an area convalescent home. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Andrew and Josephine (Mikolajczyk) Marsh he lived in New Britain and then the last forty years in Berlin. He graduated from Bryant University and served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a National Salesman for the Hayden Switch and Instruments Company. During his free time, John was a fan of all sports, enjoyed playing golf, and playing (and giving lessons in!) cribbage. John was also an expert carpenter and an avid reader, having read over1,500 books.
In addition to his wife, Joan, John is survived by a daughter Karen and her husband Mark Bouchard of Plainfield, IL., a son Daniel and his wife Jill Marsh of New Britain; six grandchildren, Steven, Lauren, Andrew, Alexa, McKenzie and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Marsh.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church Kensington. Burial will follow in the Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, John's family asks that donations be made to a local charity of the donor's choice.
