Obituary of Lewis J. Mirante

Lewis J. Mirante, 63, of Kensington, succumbed to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Sunday (Feb. 9, 2014) at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Rio) Mirante, he lived all his life in Kensington. A licensed Land Surveyor, he was a partner at MBA Engineering in Kensington for many years. He was an avid golfer and member of the Timberlain Men's Club, a member of the Italian Independent Political Club and CALS.
Lew is survived by his wife of 36 years Deborah (Winterbottom) Mirante; his sister Rosanne and her husband Joseph Golino of Wethersfield; a beloved Uncle James S. Rio of Plainville; special cousins James V. Rio and his wife Deborah, of Plainville, and their children, Lew's Goddaughter Kayla Rio and her fiance' Brian Kriscenski and Michael Rio and his fiance' Vrinda Bhat.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. They would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Step Down ICU and the ER at Yale; the doctors at Columbia New York Presbyterian Hospital and a special thanks to Jeff in the ICU at Columbia; Dr. Watson in New Britain for helping Lew get the best medical attention he could.
