Rudolph John Klampfer, 75, of New Britain, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) at home. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Rudolph and Rosa (Ibitz) Klampfer, he was a lifelong resident. After graduating from New Britain High School, Rudy, joined the U. S. Navy. He served in Vietnam, receiving several citations, and was the commanding officer of the Naval Reserve Personnel Center in New Orleans, La. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Austrian Donau Society and an active member of the New Britain Senior Center where he enjoyed many hours and had many friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9 a.m. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 98 Franklin Sq. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Church.
