Steve Prestash, Jr, 92, of New Britain, died Saturday night at an area convalescent home. Born in New Britain and a lifelong resident he was a skilled machinist having worked at G.E. Prentice Manufacturing and Emhart , retiring twenty five years ago. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, an avid bowler and a member of the former Prestash Post, VFW. Mr. Prestash is survived by two sons Robert and his wife Pamela Prestash of New Britain, and Richard and his wife Judy Prestash of Torrington; two grandsons Robert Prestash, Jr. and Brian Prestash; two brothers Joseph Prestash of New Britain and Emerick Prestash of Farmington, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Bernice (Kinney) Prestash, four brothers Andrew (who was killed in World War II) Myron, Anthony and Walter; and a sister Molly Mancini. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church 54 Winter St. New Britain, CT 06051.
