Obituary of Eleanora B. Nagy

Please share a memory of Eleanora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eleanora (Bethke) Nagy, 93, of Newington, CT passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024. Born in New Haven, CT, Eleanora lived a full and vibrant life. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Louis Nagy, Sr who died in 2014.

Eleanora's memory will be cherished and kept alive through her five sons and their families. She is survived by Lou (Katie) of Charlestown, MA; Michael (Claudia) of San Ramon, CA; Steve (Susan) of Amherst, MA; Dave (Jacqueline) of Wallingford, CT; and John (Jill) of Chester, CT. She also loved and cherished her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

After raising their family in Killingworth, CT, Lou and Elle set sail for Port Charlotte, FL where they built a community of friends through their church and various activities and organizations. It was through that friend community that Elle was able to live a full and active life after Lou had unexpectantly passed. Then when Covid hit, Elle moved back to CT and joined the assisted living community at Middlewoods of Newington where she made many new friends.

Eleanora saw the good in people and every day made the choice to be a positive person around the people she touched. She loved to play card games, she enjoyed playing bingo -- even more so when she won, and she loved the movies. She was as colorful as her wardrobe. Her heart was full of love, and she was always interested in what others were thinking and doing, particularly her grandkids and great-grandchildren.

Eleanora's life was marked by her deep spirituality, her love for her family, and her enduring kindness that touched all who knew her. She was grateful for the life that she led. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private, family Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care provided by Beacon Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza Suite 1802, East Hartford, CT 06108 (please make checks payable to Amedysis Foundation).
