Obituary of William D. Albrecht
William D. Albrecht, 87, of New Britain passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday June 6, 2024. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (McGrath) Albrecht and husband of the late Dolores “Dolly” Albrecht who passed away in 2011.
William attended local schools and graduated from EC Goodwin and went on to be an electrician by trade. He was employed at Ferguson Electric and then went on to work 25 years with the New Britain Public School System. He moved to East Hampton and became very involved in the East Hampton Lions Club. He was a long time member of American Legion and New Britain and Middletown Elks. William served his country honorably in the US Army.
William is survived by his four children; Mary Garcia of New Britain, Paula and her husband Al Bruzak of Bristol, Ruth Arnold of Texas, and Billy Albrecht of Tennessee. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and stepchildren. He also leaves his sisters Joan and her husband Matthew Kokoszka of California and Barbara and her husband Donald Nadeau of Bristol and his first wife Margaret Albrecht of Bristol.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday (June 14) at 10:30am directly at St. Patrick Church, 47 West High Street, East Hampton. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, 19 Maple Street, East Hampton. Visitation will be held on Thursday (June 13) from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
