Obituary of Lois E. Gadzik
Lois E. (Hall) Gadzik, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 17th. Born October 10, 1930, Daughter of the late Homer & Julia (Sinkiewicz) Hall, widow of the late Robert D Gadzik who died February 2008.
She graduated in 1948 from NB High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the NBHS Class reunion Committee. While a senior in High School she started working at Stanley Hardware Div., then left to raise a family. Worked for 5 yrs at the CT Credit Union League, returned to Stanley Tools Division in 1976 where she retired in 1992 after 16 years as an Executive Secretary. She was a member of: St Andrews Church, Lithuanian Seniors, Rosary Society, Council of Catholic Women Board, St Johns Ladies Guild, RSVP, Stanley Seniors and Berlin AARP #3035.
She enjoyed making “Grammie Jammies” for all her grandchildren, crocheting mini afghans for NBGH Birthplace Programs and Neo-Natal Dept of UCONN, and sewing pillowcases for Paul Newman’s “Hole-in-the wall Gang Camp”. Enjoyed crocheting and spending summers at Sun Valley Campground in Stafford Springs. She volunteered for many years at New Britain General Hospital Emergency Dept, Salvation Army Food Pantry, St John’s Sunday afternoon Bingo and yearly for the “Race in the Park” for Breast Cancer, which she was a multiple breast cancer survivor. She walked the Survivor Lap with her family in the Relay for Life in Manchester for many years.
She leaves her children David and wife Laurie (Robison) of Middlebury, Cheryl (Gadzik) Pagano of Plainville and Mary Ann (Gadzik) and husband Bruce Caldwell of Manchester. Her many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Jess, Josh and partner Nikki and Ben and partner Dionna, Gadzik of Middlebury. Anthony and wife Kristen (Oulighan)Pagano and daughters Abigail, Layna and Paige of New Hampshire, and Chuck Jr. and wife Edyta (Bolek) Pagano and daughter Emma of Plainville. Ranon and wife Christine (Robinson)Caldwell and daughter Reia of Manchester, Rachel Caldwell and Tyler Brasher and sons Holden and Landon of Manchester, Rena Caldwell, Rori and wife Marion (Meserve)Caldwell and daughters Aibreann and Maeve all of Maine. She is also survived by her brother Russell Hall of Newington, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert J Gadzik December 2020.
Funeral services for Lois will be held on Tuesday (Feb 27th) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling Street, Berlin. Emtombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
