Obituary of Betsy C. Perkins
Betsy E. (Cowles) Perkins, 81, of New Britain and Stonington, beloved wife of Jack Perkins passed away on Thursday, December 7th, at the Jerome Home in New Britain. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Earle and Virginia (Murray) Cowles.
Betsy and Jack married in 1962 (61 years of marriage) and raised their family in Betsy’s hometown of New Britain. In 1985, Betsy and Jack founded the Perkins Travel Corporation in New Britain, which is widely known for specializing in Business, Vacation, and Group travel in the US and internationally. Betsy had many passions and loved to share her creativity – spending time with her family who she loved dearly, traveling, sewing, getting together with friends, watching Red Sox games and of course the business….and shopping! She loved what she did and always looked forward to going to work. Betsy was an example of what dedication, hard work and persistence could bring to her family and business.
On behalf of the Perkins family, a special thank you to all the staff at the Jerome Home and Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their kindness and loving care.
In addition to her husband, Jack, she is survived by three children: two sons, Todd Perkins of Andover, CT; Patrick Perkins and his wife Carol, of Holden, MA, and a daughter, Ginny and her husband Anthony DiPaulo of Farmington, CT; and six grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle, Ryan and Meagan, Betsy and Anthony; and a sister Patricia Cowles of Old Saybrook, CT.
