Obituary of Christopher M. Lagassey

Christopher “Chris” Michael Lagassey

November 6, 1981 – September 19, 2023

It is with unimaginable grief and deep heartache that we announce Christopher Michael Lagassey, 41, of Farmington, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, with his beloved wife and father by his side, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.  

Chris leaves behind his devoted wife, Kaitlyn Stewart Lagassey, and their two daughters, Taylor and Paige Lagassey, who he lovingly referred to as “his girls”.  He was the cherished son of Richard Lagassey and Elizabeth “Lisa” Lagassey, revered older brother to Kevin Lagassey, son-in-law to Kevin and Ann Marie Stewart, and brother-in-law to Ryan Stewart and Patrick Stewart.

Chris grew up in Berlin, Connecticut where he enjoyed playing baseball, snowboarding, video games and being with his friends.  He graduated from Central Connecticut State University where he found his passion for graphic design, computer coding and website development. Chris was able to exhibit his incredible talent at Primacy, a digital marketing agency, where he was a loyal employee for over 15 years.  He loved his career, his coworkers that became some of his closest friends, and all of the events they participated in together, including several Tough Mudders, happy hours, beer club and extravagant Christmas parties.

Chris met his wife, Kaitlyn, the absolute love of his life, in December 2014, through mutual friends at a dodgeball game.  From the moment they met there was nothing that he wouldn’t do for her. Chris and Kaitlyn spent their early dating years taking care of Chris’s beloved mini yorkie, Snicks, visiting breweries, attending UConn tailgates with friends, tubing down the Farmington River, golfing, and traveling the world, visiting Iceland, Alaska, Greece, Italy and Ireland, where they got engaged at the Cliffs of Moher.

Chris was a devoted husband, loyal friend, and incredible son and brother. But the single most special role that Chris held was being a father.  He was so unbelievably proud to be a “girl dad”. He was fully engaged and involved in every aspect of being a father, including taking Taylor to all of her dance and gymnastic classes, setting up outdoor movie nights for the neighborhood girls, participating in playdates at trampoline parks, being well versed in all the Disney princesses, and his absolute favorite pastime of spending time at Winding Trails.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Chris, including visits from the ice cream truck, nightly walks in the neighborhood and on the bike trail, weekend brunches, spaghetti and meatballs, sledding, a cold Guinness, and watching his Yankees and Patriots play.  He was the life of the party, especially at weddings, where he would be the first on the dance floor.

Chris was a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  His kind eyes and warm smile made everyone instantly happier in his presence. He embodied the meaning of the phrase “salt of the earth”.  Chris was caring, loyal, humble, thoughtful and never had anything bad to say about anyone. Chris left this world far too soon, but his legacy will live on forever through the lives he touched and through his two beautiful daughters.

In honor of Chris’s memory, we will be holding a celebration of his life in early November, with further details to be announced.  We invite anyone who knew and loved him to attend and remember his easygoing personality, beautiful soul, infectious smile and wonderful life.
