Obituary of John J. Cadder Sr.
John J. Cadder Sr. , 94, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2023. Born in Hartford, CT May 9, 1929, he was the son of Robert and Mae (Horan) Cadder.
John was a man of strong character, born with a thirst for adventure and a lifelong pursuit for knowledge. He was the consummate story teller and never had a bad word for anyone he knew or met. He graduated Hartford Technical School and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. John started his career at the Underwood Typewriter Company becoming a master machinist, draftsman, foreman and manager. He was a firm believer in the idea of “if you don’t have, can’t find it, make it” which contributed to his many inventions in tool making. He went on to work at the National Eastern Corporation in Plainville, CT from where he retired.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara (Stawarz) Cadder and his son John J. Cadder Jr., and brother Thomas Cadder, along with his son-in-law, Edward DiSanto and granddaughter, Rita DiSanto.
Bust most importantly, John loved his family who will miss him more than words can convey.
He is survived by his daughters, Ann M. Diaz, Jeanne (Roman Sr.) Szewczak, and Barbara DiSanto. His six cherished grandchildren, Jeanne (Kevin) Curtiss, Frank Diaz, Lauren DiSanto, Brenda Cadder, Gloria Cadder and Roman Szewczak Jr. and three great grandchildren Reanna DiSanto, Nixon and Samuel Curtiss. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Robert Cadder, Anne Felber, Mary Bergman, Katherine Sawyer, Agnes Pomeroy and Ellen Putira, and his brothers in-laws Anthony Stawarz and Edward Stawarz. John’s legacy will be treasured memories fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation for family and friends will begin Monday, July 3rd at 10:00am at The Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain.
