"Heart-felt thoughts"
The memory of my father
Shall remain in my heart
So many years together
Sad now while apart
His love of family
For you and for me
A kind-hearted soul
Everyone could see
On a hospital visit
As he laid sick in bed
Inquired about my health
Thoughts of me instead
His selfless persona
And good nature, too
Brought happiness to others
And everyone he knew
Now he has left us
Having found peace
His body has healed
His suffering has ceased
Heaven awaited him
In his final days
He met with Jesus
And followed His way

"Forever Loved"
I'm missing you already
Three weeks have passed
You were laid to rest
The memories will last
Kind and selfless
A good father
To all three of us
Proud to be your daughter
You were forever loved
By your grandchildren
The joys you shared
Will remain with them
We prayed for you
Kept hope in our hearts
We stayed by your bed
But you had to part
You passed into heaven
A much better place
No hatred or sin
A gift of God's grace

To Carol and the Kasulis family - our deepest and most sincere condolences. We've lived next door to Joe and Carol for the last 19 years and we are not surprised to read that Joe played basketball in high school and college and loved sports. Our four boys love to play basketball in our driveway and more than a few times we would look outside and see Joe in the driveway giving them advice. As recent as about 5 years ago (so Joe was in his 70s!) we saw him playing one on one with are oldest, Joe (who was about 16 years old at the time). Amazing! He also let our boys play baseball, football any other game they could think up in the empty lot between our properties. He was very kind and we will miss him.
Again, we are very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jay, Maura, Joe, John, Daniel and Liam Gaffney

I have been one of Joe's "CFL guys" for almost 20 years. I never met him in person, and most of our emails were about predicting the results of CFL games, but we shared major life events and, occasionally, minor ones. Over the years I got married and had kids, and when I told him about my kids, he would reminisce about raising his own family.
I appreciated his dedication and enthusiasm for running our game, but also his recognition that there are more important things in life.

Carol, my deepest and most sincere condolences to you, and your family. I did not know Joseph, but I felt like I knew him, and have deep respect for him, after reading his obituary. What a wonderful man, husband, and father he was.
You and I go back many a year. I still recall our youth, and the fun times we had on Gold Street. I am so happy that you found a man like Joseph. So cherish the good times you had together. Those dreams and thoughts of him will never leave you. I'm certain he is in heaven, watching over you, and his family. God bless his soul. He may be playing basketball again, on God's team. Amen.

I just saw Joe's obit in the paper. I carpooled to Travelers with Joe for many years. He was a good guy. I was amazed by his encyclopedic knowledge of sports. Any time sports news came on the radio, he would beat the announcers to any and all statistics they would announce. He was a really nice guy. I remember Joe and I struggling to make it home in my '74 Dodge Dart during the Blizzard of '78. Took us a long time. We made it to my house on Percival Ave, when he decided it was better for him to walk the rest of the way, enduring the storm on foot, so I could get into my house, rather than risk my getting my car stuck between my house and his. A really nice guy. Pretty fast driver, too. Often, my heart was in my throat! He has a great wife & family. We lost track after he retired, but I would run into him now and then in Sussman's/Gnazzo's and we would have a nice chat. My wife and I send our condolences and good wishes to Carol, and his large family.

John: I jotted down a list of memories, and Dad always being late while you waited in the driveway was on it. I remember where you lived on Percival Ave, but I had forgotten your name - so I am extra pleased to hear from you now. You'll be happy to know that even though Dad taught us to drive, we didn't carry forward his Nascar-style maneuvers. Thanks for the warm thoughts. - Cindy (Joe's youngest kid)
