Obituary of Constance M. DiLorenzo
Constance M. (Geraci) DiLorenzo, 102, died Friday (Dec.9, 2022) at Southington Care in Southington. Born in Priolo, Siracusa, Italy on July 25, 1920, the daughter of the late Luciano and Barbara (Bucchieri) Geraci, she came to the USA in 1924 at the age of 4. She attended local schools. She was a resident of New Britain for twenty four years, moving to Kensington, CT in 1969 and moved back New Britain in 1985. She was the widow of Dominic James DiLorenzo they were married for 59 years, he was the love if her life, he died February 5th, 2002.
Mrs. DiLorenzo was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Kensington. At a very young age she worked in her father’s store, The Universal Meat Market. She loved people and made many friends, later working for Levy’s Ladies Shop, for 17 years, Anthony Rao’s, Moore’s Medical and Profit and Friends, She enjoyed crocheting, made afghans for her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Rosemarie and Salvatore Gionfriddo, with whom she lived, Barbara and Richard Boucher and Victoria and Walter Kuper; eight grandchildren, Dominic and Jennifer Gionfriddo, Scott , Joseph, and Matthew Boucher, Danielle Gierla and Walter Kuper, Jr., Ashley & Isabella Gionfriddo, along with 9 great grandchildren. A sister, Viola Salonia, and nephew Vincent and Carol DiLorenzo. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and their love and caring spouses, numerous grandnieces and grandnephews and their spouses and great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Maria Gionfriddo and great grandson, Jonathan Gionfriddo, grandson, Christopher Wantek, and family members Anna Lanza and her husband, Frank, Thomas Salonia, Mary and Frank Salerno, Lucy DiLorenzo and husband Michael DiLorenzo, her niece Rose Salce, nephew Salvatore and Mary DiLorenzo. She will be remembered as a gentle and loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, sister and friend.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday (Dec. 15, 2022) at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church, Kensington.
