What can be said. Mr. B was such a wonderful man who I remember from a young age (in about 1959) running around Hartford High with Lou Jr. He was instrumental recently in assisting me with getting my Dad into the HPHS & CT Coaches Hall of Fame. God bless and take care. You've been influenced by on of the great ones.

Our lives became richer and fuller when we became friends with our Newington neighbors, Joan and Lou. What happy memories we have of our Saturday morning visits with them at Steve's place and their delight in our toddler, Catherine, and she in them. She loved Joan so and soaked up all that Lou had to teach her, especially the song about the dog "Old Shep" And how pleased he would be when, after having taught her, she knew the meaning of the symbols on his Springfield College ring each time he saw her and quizzed her. His and Joan's passing leave big holes in many lives but many wonderful memories.--Eileen, Pat and Cat Flaherty.

To the Bazzano Family, My sincere condolences upon the loss of your father...I really enjoyed spending time with him catching up last year at a Newington High basketball game. A truly terrific person who was an integral part of Connecticut athletics for four decades, he spent most of the couple of hours we had together bragging about his family. Again, my sincerest condolences upon your loss.

Dear Jim and Allie: Although I never had the privilege of engaging in a reporter-coach relationship with Lou, he recognized that we were of a kindred spirit when it came to the passion we shared for scholastic sports. His words of encouragement were like a heartwarming messages from a higher power and helped inspire me to do my best on each and every assignment. Lou lived an exemplary life, and the celebration of his life should supersede the sadness you are experiencing. The Gold Key Dinner is Sunday, and Lou not only attended regularly, but never failed to leave a donation for the Bo Kolinsky Scholarship Fund. I will make sure he is remembered with fondness this Sunday by the legions of state sports fans who loved him. His legacy shall live on through my work and those who have benefitted from his benevolence and generosity.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Bazzano family. He was a mentor and friend when I coached football in the Hartford Schools. I was always impressed with his support of Hartford Public High School’s athletics long after he had retired. We will definitely miss him at the annual H.P.H.S. vs. Weaver Thanksgiving football game.

My first personal encounter with Lou was as a player at Wilbur Cross High School. Our teams played against Lou's Buckley High basketball team at the Boston Garden, New England Championships. As I began coaching, Lou became a coaching friend and confidant. Lou was always there to help with any questions and concerns. Lou will always be remembered for his legendary coaching. But more than that, his memory will be honored, not just by his loved ones, but by all who knew him! Our sympathy goes out to his family and all who loved Lou. Coach Dom & Maryann Ferrara

It was a privilege to get to know Lou in our family parties. I enjoyed our conversations about educational issues. It was most obvious in these conversations that he was a considerate, compassionate and intelligent man. He was very well spoken. I will miss these times together, but am so grateful for the memories. May God be with all of you and shower smiles upon you as you remember Lou.

Jimmy and family. Although the years have kept our paths divergent I'll never forget all your Dad's coaching in the house driveway B-ball court where we spent hour after hour. On my wall still hangs Bob Gibson's autograph from when your Dad brought us to that event. He was a great man who made a life long impression. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family, may his great legacy and countless memories make the burden of your loss a lighter load. Although his physicality is gone his strength, courage, and inspiration remains in your heart forever. You always made your Dad proud. No greater gift from a son can be given. Stay strong.

Our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to you in this saddest and most mournful time. We were all privileged to have socially interacted with Mr. Bazzano in so many instances over the years, and we always enjoyed hearing his views on the various aspects of sports and of organized competition in the collegiate and in the high school infrastructural arenas; areas in which his knowledge was incredibly intimate and extensive, as well as fascinating to hear. The world will miss him; we will miss him. God Bless and peace be with you. The Pietras Family 24 Pinehurst Avenue New Britain, CT 06053-3524
