Obituary of Richard C. Vocke

Richard C. Vocke, 70, of Wethersfield, CT passed surrounded by love on June 28, 2021 after an admiringly optimistic battle with Leukemia. Richard was born in San Francisco, CA to the late Warren and Claire Vocke. Richard was a magnetic force and had a zest for fun. His intoxicating laugh would turn heads and bring smiles to anyone who was in his vicinity. Richard’s love for adventure and his passion for travel lead him through a colorful life. Richard was a proud member of the Newington Chapter of WW and made many new friends there. He also joined his high school alumni for Monday Night zoom meetings, which he very much enjoyed. Richard is survived by his husband and life partner of 30 years, Gary Cyr; his three sons: Jason and his wife, Heather of Kensington; Clark and his wife, Kristen of New Britain; and John and his fiancé Amanda of Tolland; his grandchildren, Jack, Claire and Iain. He is also survived by his brother John and wife Gail of CA; his sister Deborah and husband Dan of CA; his niece Claire and nephews, Bradley, Aaron and Mark as well as countless family and close friends. A Celebration of life will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Patrick St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St. Hartford, CT. On behalf of our family, we would like to thank Dr. Omar Buddhu for his exceptional medical care and friendship, as well as the nurses and the rest of the staff at Hartford Hospital for their outstanding care. We will never forget the love and care that was shown to Richard through his battle.
