Obituary of Kathleen McParland

Kathleen (Kathy) McParland, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 21, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Hoad, her brothers, Joey and Eddy, and her beloved husband, Michael McParland. She was also predeceased by her much loved son, Derek. She is survived by her daughter Erin Napolitano McParland and her husband Ron Napolitano Jr. of Meriden, her son Conan McParland and his wife Sarah of Charlotte, North Carolina, her twin granddaughters Lauren and Ashley of Meriden, her sister Holly Kopcza, and her husband Ray of Orlando, Florida, her sister in law Ann McParland Sanchez and husband Rick of Panama City, FLorida and her nieces Heather Hitchcock, Tara Northover, and Jennifer Kopcza. Prior to retirement Kathy was the head custodian at Roger Sherman Elementary School in Meriden and at the time was union president of The Federation of Municipal Employees for the Board of Education. Her children and granddaughters were the lights of her life. Kathy adored children and the laughter and joy they brought in her life; from those who passed through Roger Sherman to the neighborhood kids who called her Mom. Kathy was a physically strong woman who was emotionally supportive of anyone she loved and believed in. If she was in your corner you had a warrior on your side. Kathy and Michael shared the kind of love many wish they had. They continued to hold hands after many years of marriage and enjoyed learning and traveling together. We are comforted to know that Kathy is reunited with her son Derek and her beloved husband Michael. A Memorial Service will be held on August 28, 2021 at South Meriden United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM, 145 Main Street, Meriden.
