Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas R. O’Day Jr., 69, of New Britain, passed away on July 15, 2021. Thomas was visited, entertained, phone called, and surrounded by dear friends and family members at the Village Green of Bristol for the past four years. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Thomas O’Day and Dorothy (Ericson) O’Day. He graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas in 1970 and he went on to further his education at Greater Hartford Community College and Central Connecticut State College.
Thomas was formally employed by the United States Postal Service before moving to Las Vegas, NV for a number of years. Upon return, he became an avid bicyclist and could be found biking around town and traveling as far north as Massachusetts. He loved our New England beaches, hiking trails, and the beauty of nature. He was a long-time sports fan of the New York Mets, Boston Celtics, and the New Britain Bees.
Thomas leaves his sister, Donna, and his two adoring nephews, Dr. Keenan Richards and partner, Karen Hopkins, of Kingston, NY, and Dr. Edward (Ted) Richards of Medford, MA.
Thomas’s family gives heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and very caring nurses and staff of Village Green. Funeral services will be privately held at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain with burial in the family plot.
