I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.

My heartfelt condolences to the Gaffney family. J. Brian was a kind and wonderful person and "boss". When I first met him, I was intimidated by that presence and frank stare. But then there was that smile and the twinkle in his eyes. He was special.

Sincerest condolences to your entire family; Brian was always generous to me and a big help during the Reagan and G.H.W. Bush campaigns. Always easy going and fun (especially at national and local political conventions!)

Dear Mary and family. So many years of friendship and mentor ship with J Brian. I remember when I first met Brian in the Governor Meskill's office when I was a 17 year old intern. Brian came in with that hat and trench coat and swung open that little door to the front reception office is. HE had a determined way about him, no one said anything to him and he headed straight into the Governor's office. IT made such an impression on me, that even with those irish eyes flashing, I was afraid of him for the longest time, lol. As I was able to get know him..... His laugh, wit and love for this political dance , it is difficult to think of Brian and the Governor without the other. I loved them both. Along with his strength was a gentleness and only those of us who were privileged to know Brian, knew that part of him. When I was given the delegate position in 1972 as Ct's 18 yr old delegate, both Brian and Governor met with me to tell me. They both looked at me to see my teenage reaction. I did not know what to say, did not feel as if I deserved it, but I loved their faith in me. Brian along with Tom Meskill set the bar high for me in politics . A breed of men that no longer exists. Brian was loyal friend and mentor and I will miss his presence on this planet. Love to all.

Brian was not just a mentor to so many Republicans over the years, he was a friendly face and a reminder of what politics once was. He was always ready to lend a hand, and when I faced a recount in an election to the General Assembly one year, the first thought was” call Brian Gaffney!” We prevailed.
I enjoyed working with him as a legislator and lobbyist, but I most admired his ability to see the good in all and his joy in public service. We would be better today in politics and government if webhad a few more Brian Gaffneys today.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

ABOUT THE IRISH
".......................................AND THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND ON WHICH HE WILL STAND.
HE'S WILD AND HE'S GENTLE, HE'S GOOD AND HE'S BAD,
HE'S PROUD AND HE'S HUMBLE, HE'S HAPPY AND SAD.
HE'S IN LOVE WITH THE OCEAN, THE EARTH AND THE SKIES.
HE'S ENAMORED WITH BEAUTY WHEREVER IT LIES.
HE'S VICTOR AND VICTIM, A STAR AND A CLOD.
