Obituary of Lois Ann Bridgett
Lois Ann (Apelgren) Bridgett passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018 after a brief illness. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married for 60 years to Edward Charles Bridgett of New Britain. Born and raised in New Britain, she graduated from New Britain High School and attended CCSC. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and had been in the church’s Ladies Guild while her children were growing up. She volunteered at Saint Francis School. She taught Religious Instruction for many years. She always enjoyed it when she ran into one of her former students and they remembered her as their teacher.
In their early years of marriage she and her husband enjoyed spending summers in Old Saybrook with their growing children; and later, she loved being there and visiting with her dear friends and neighbors. She worked for CL&P for many years; and she worked for The Pain Management Center in Farmington. She loved traveling with her friends and, especially enjoyed taking bus trips with her close friends. Her favorite trips were to Vermont, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania with the Senior Groups. Also, she volunteered for the Race for the Cure in Walnut Hill Park for many years. Lois had a devoted Catholic faith all of her life, and enjoyed watching Daily Mass on TV.
In addition to her husband, Edward, she is survived by her brother Gerald Apelgren, her three children, Marianne (Bridgett) O’Brien and her fiancée, William Mitchell, Patrick and Daniel. She will be missed by her grandsons, Sean Patrick O’Brien, his wife Lauren, along with their children, Evan and Maia; and Quinn Brady O’Brien, his wife, Katie and their daughter, Nora. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Myrtle (Feore) Apelgren, and her brother, Edward Apelgren.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT, from 8:30 to 10:00 am on Saturday (February 10th) with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley Street, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain. Her family would like to express their very sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff and administration of the Jefferson House in Newington, for the loving care they give to their mother in her final days.
