Florine M. (Van Gorder) Hochstrate, 80, of Plantsville and formerly of New Britain died July 13, 2010. She was the widow of Paul E. Hochstrate. Born in New Britain, February 1, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Morgan and Wilhelmina (Chromy) Van Gorder, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Paul Hochstrate and his wife Doris of Plantsville and Jeffrey Hochstrate and his wife Kelly of Texas; her five grandchildren, Tracy Levin and her husband Joshua, Debra Hochstrate, Cole Hochstrate, Clay Hochstrate, and Kyle Hochstrate; and her three great grandchildren, Austin, Mya, and Gavin; a sister-in-law, Florence Van Gorder of New Britain and lifelong friends, Virginia Siton of Southington and Mildred Poppel of New Britain, along with her special friends at Southington Care Center, Joyce Church and Adolph Stachkunas. She also leaves several cousins and nephews. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hochstrate was predeceased by a brother, Morgan Van Gorder, Jr. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Southington Care Center as well as Dr. Bogdanski for the care, kindness, and compassion that was extended to their mom during her stay there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 P.M at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of Services. Memorial contributions may be made to Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Avenue, Southington, CT 06489.
