Obituary of Eleanor M. French

Eleanor M. French, 88, of New Britain, widow of the late Martin J. French, Jr, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving and dedicated son Marty J. French III on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Wilson) Andrus, she lived in New Britain many years. She was cared for by her son Marty, who was dedicated and devoted to his wonderful mother and the two had a bond like no other. She was employed at Food Mart in Newington for 19 years and was a member at St. John's the Evangelist. She was a huge fan of the UConn Women's Basketball Team. Eleanor has been reunited with her husband of 56 years, whom she dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Marty J. French, III, and a daughter, Gayle West and her husband, Thomas, all of New Britain; a sister, Rosemarie Engels of Missouri, two grandchildren, Justin and Ryan West as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday April 21 at 11:00 am at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, 10 to 11 am. Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. French's name to the George Bray Cancer Center, 100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 06050.
