June Marie (Walsh) Donnelly, wife of Stephen P. Donnelly, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2016. Born in New Britain, CT June was the daughter of the late William P. Walsh and Olive (Feore) Walsh. After attending Saint Mary's School in New Britain she went on to graduate from New Britain High School. She joined the US Cadet Nurse Corps (Navy) and graduated from Stamford Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida and later became the Head nurse at New Britain General Hospital where she started the first Intensive Care Unit. After raising her three daughters she worked for the American Red Cross as the Assistant Director of Nursing. She was a charter member of St. Maurice Church in New Britain, CT and a member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club 18 hole golf group. She also served on the New Britain Housing Authority.
Beside her husband, June is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Donnelly and granddaughter Abbey of Beverly, MA, Patricia June Donnelly of Brookline, MA and Maureen Scott and her son in law Thomas and her two grandsons Liam and Patrick of North Andover, MA. She also leaves her sister and brother in law Maureen and Richard Payton of Plainville, CT her sister in law Ruth Walsh, and her brothers- in- law Michael Donnelly and his wife Joan of Lake George, NY, Phillip Donnelly and his wife Maryellen of Queenstown, MD and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Ensign William Brady Walsh a US Navy pilot killed during World War II and James D. Walsh of New Britain, CT.
Funeral services will be held Friday (Apr.1,2016) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Rd. New Britain. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook, at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass, at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
