Obituary of Amelia K. Strajkowski

Amelia K. (Millie) Strajkowski, 88, of New Britain, widow of Edward Strajkowski, passed away on Thursday June 28, 2012, after a short illness. Born on July 11, 1923 to Michael and Mary Kush, Amelia grew up in New Britain and graduated from New Britain High School in 1941. She married Edward on June 7, 1947, raised three children and worked at Fafnir Bearing Co. for several years, retiring in 1985. She was an avid fan of Boston Red Sox baseball and UConn women's basketball. Amelia was known as "Gabby" to her friends, but all that knew her, knew she was a woman of few words, she will be missed by all.
She is survived by her three children, Michael and his wife Linda of New Britain, Marc of New Britain, with whom she resided and who was her wonderful caregiver in the last few years and Janice Vaillancourt of Newington. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren Eric Dahlgren of New Britain and Stefani Vaillancourt of Newington and her siblings Stacia Generous, Edward Kus and Helen Nowak, all of New Britain, and sisters in law Helen Lizon and Claire Kus of New Britain. She will also be missed by her very special grandpets, Lucy, Lily, Lucky Strajkowski, Max, Eddie and Lola Vaillancourt. She was predeceased by her brother Theodore Kush and Lucy Harrison. Amelia also leaves many nieces and nephews. Her family would also like to thank the staff of BelAir Manor, Newington, especially Elaine, for Millie's wonderful care during her brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin sq. New Britain.
