Obituary of Mary Aresimowicz
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary E. (Stevens) Aresimowicz, 65, Berlin lost one if it's shining stars early Thursday morning when Mary passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born in Presque Isle, Maine, she came to New Britain at the age of 8 and then found her "true home" in Berlin in 1974. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Jerome Stevens and Mary Ruth (Grant) Stevens. Her commitment to Berlin started almost immediately when she joined The Berlin Welcome Wagon. This was the same group that welcomed her family to town with a visit to her new home. Mary then went on to serve on many local committees and boards, including the Kensington Volunteer Ambulance Service (for 13 years), a founder and Head Coach for the cheerleading program of Berlin Midget Football, a past treasurer of the Berlin Little League, founded Parent Advocate Berlin-Central CT Learning Disabilities, Berlin VNA President of the Board of Directors, Treasurer of the Berlin Democratic Town Committee and was a board member of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce.
In September 1985, along with her business partner and best friend, Marion Sqroi-Varano, they founded Accounts Management, Inc. at a time when women business owners were the exception. From small beginnings in the basement of her home their business grew into a highly regarded company specializing in tax consulting, bookkeeping and Investments. Her service only grew from there when she became one of the founding members of the National Association of Tax Professionals- CT Chapter, member NY/CT Association of Tax Professionals.
Mary is survived by her four children James Aresimowicz Jr., Joseph Aresimowicz and his wife Crystal, Shelly Peterson and her husband Timothy, and Sherry Rice and her husband Sam; her beloved grandchildren Michael, Ryan and Katie Aresimowicz; Jamie Peterson, and Adam and Eli Rice; her sister Joyce Dunn of Berlin; her brother Herbert Stevens of New Britain, several nieces and nephews and her former husband James Aresimowicz Sr. Mary was predeceased by her brother Burton Stevens and sister Katherine Gomez.
Mary's faith was also a big part of her life. She found comfort and friendship with the congregation, the ministry team and Pastor Scott at Christian Life Church of Kensington.
