Obituary of Anthony Cianci

Anthony (Antonio) J. Cianci, 100, of New Britain, died Monday at the Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Concetta and Sebastiano Cianci, he lived all his life in New Britain. A self taught barber, he began his career at the age of 16 and continued well into his 80's. All of his shops were located on North Street in New Britain. He spent his past time fishing, which he loved on the Connecticut Shores. He spent many summers at his beach front home at Coral Sands in Westbrook. He was a past president of the Masters Barber's Association, a life member of the B.P.O. Elks, and a member of St. Ann's Church. He built his own home and boat. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Civetta) Cianci. Tony is survived by his son Salvatore Cianci of Portland, two daughters Rose Marie LaRosa of Southington, Annette Redfield of Old Saybrook; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his son Anthony Jesse Cianci. Funeral services will be held Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ann's Church North St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral; Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
