Roger L. Cayer, 92, of New Britain, died Monday evening (June 3, 2013) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" (Lawton) Cayer who died Aug. 24, 2003. Born in Manchester, NH, he lived in New Britain most of his life and was employed at Fafnir Bearing for 42 years, retiring as a General Foreman. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, member of the Catholic War Veterans, the French Model Club, the Amber Club, the YMCA, where he worked out three times a week, the Austrian Donau Singing Society and was an active member of St. Maurice Church. Among his hobbies, Roger enjoyed golf, was an avid hunter and fisherman and coached little league baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his good friends at the McDonalds on West Main Street, where he was known as Rocky. Mr. Cayer is survived by his daughter Deborah and her husband John Fasolo of Canaan, CT, a son Roger and his wife Bonnie Cayer of Humble, Texas; four grandchildren Craig Cayer, Jennifer Scott, John Michael Fasolo and Christopher Fasolo; two brothers Lionel Cayer and Robert Cayer both of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain.Burial; will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
