Obituary of Lillian Kardok

Lillian Kardok, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2013, at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor. She was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on June 4, 1924, and attended New Britain High School, graduating from there in 1943. She married Joseph Kardok in 1948 and they had many happy years together until his death in 1996. Lillian was also predeceased by her parents, Rose and Anton Zavez, and her brother Anton ("Tony") Zavecz who was born in Burgenland, Austria. Lillian worked for many years for Emhart/Black and Decker and retired from there in 1986. Lillian was a well-known and talented musician who played in a duo with her brother Tony ("Tony and Lil"). They performed for many years at German social clubs throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts and they also played at St. Peter's Church's annual summer picnics.
Lillian was a member of St. Peter's Parish, St. Peter's Ladies Guild, the Austrian Singing Society, Hartford Liederkranz, the New Britain Catholic Council of Women and the St. Agnes Home. She is survived by her brother John Zavez, of Hampton, New Hampshire, and his family, Marge and Phil De Conti, Linda Zavecz and her son Bernie, and several nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Lillian loved her dearly. She always had a kind word for family and friends alike and she enjoyed nothing more than visiting with those she loved and who loved her in return. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to be blessed by her presence in their lives.
Calling hours will be from 9:00-10:00 on Saturday June 1 at Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Church at 10:00 A.M.
