Robert Donaldson, 88, of New Britain, died early Saturday Morning at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in Wilkes-Barre PA, the son of the late William and Helen (Skupski) Donaldson he has been a New Britain resident for many years. He was the widower of Dorothy (Thorpe) Donaldson. During World War II, Robert joined the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Marines. After serving his country, Robert was involved with his father in the family construction business. He then worked at New Britain Machine, the Stanley Works, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Road Branford, CT 06405; The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation 103 Vision Way Bloomfield, CT 06002 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral service, with cremation, will be private. His cremains will be entombed in Maple Hill Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The Farrell Funeral Home Franklin Square New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
