Charles R. Lorch, 84, of New Britain, passed away peacefully Saturday November 17, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 13, 1928,he was the son of the late Frances (Then) and Charles A. Lorch. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Murphy) Lorch for 59 years. Charlie graduated from New Britain High School in the class of 1946. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Italy. He returned home and earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut. He was employed by Aetna Insurance Co in Hartford, for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Charlie enjoyed traveling, was an avid bowler, Red Sox, NY Giants and Celtics fan. He was a supporter of the NBHS Football, Baseball and Hurricane Marching Band Besides his wife, Charlie is survived by his son, Richard and his wife Sheree Lorch of New Britain, his daughters Elizabeth L. Nigro and her husband Richard of Kensington, and Jane L. Murphy and her husband Daniel of Southington. He leaves his grandchildren, who will miss him dearly; Michael and Rebecca Lorch, Meghan Lorch and Matthew Lorch, Heather Moorcroft, Ramon Marquez, Robert Moorcroft, Nicole Murphy and Jessica Murphy and his great grandchildren Madison, Ryan, Eliza, Ramon and Zachary. He was predeceased by his brother Robert F. Lorch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 P.M at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
